Student Testimonials

  • Matt A.

“I was first introduced to Adam in the spring of 2023 when my handicap was a 23. After my first session, I realized how little I knew about the game. Over the past 12 months, I have become a student of the game, thinking about how to play a hole, where to take risks, and how to limit big numbers. This year, I learned the importance of purposeful practice and not just hitting a bucket of balls until my hands bleed. You learn not only how to manage the golf course but also how to practice and get something out of it. I was able to put in a lot of work both on and off the course, and it showed on the scorecard. My best 18-hole score was 84, my best 9-hole score was two over par, and I dropped my handicap to 14.8 by the season’s end.

I would highly recommend this program to any serious golfers who are looking to improve their game. You must be willing to put the time in and be coachable.”

  • Lynn L.

Prior to Adam’s coaching program, I would describe my golf game as one dimensional. There was very little creativity in my game, which limited my overall success. Adam did a great job providing me with a method to objectively see improvement in my game. He reviewed drills early on and then gave me the opportunity to practice and record data of these drills on a weekly basis, which was used to determine my goals for the following week.

I really enjoyed the course play with Adam and other students. During this time, I felt as though I learned so much more than I would have with a traditional golf swing lesson. Course management, club selection and type of shot will be something that I will take with me each time I play. When playing, I often say to myself,“what would Adam suggest that I do?"

Adam was always receptive to answering my many questions, and patiently worked with me to problem solve my challenges in the game of golf.

Although I did not reach my goal of becoming a single digit handicap (yet), I know that I have all the tools to do so, thanks to Adam. I have had swing lessons in the past and felt that I needed something different to take me to the next level. Adam’s program has been an invaluable resource to me that I know will give me my best chance to succeed on the course.

I would highly recommend Adam if you would like to give yourself the opportunity to take your game to the next level.

Golfing Goals - To break 80

My game was not good when I started my coaching program.  I was having difficulty with just about every aspect of golf other than putting.  I could not control my short game; my full swing didn't have any power or distance, and I couldn't hit a driver straight so was always started with a scramble shot for my second shot on any hole.  My handicap was the worse it had ever been (21), and I was considering just giving up golf.

I've been working with Adam for several years on my golf game. Prior to last year, I saw small gains but would often slip back into bad habits over the winter break, making it feel like I was starting over each time. However, this past year marked a significant change. I worked with Adam every week through the winter, focusing on the finer details—from putting with loft to mastering the half swing. Despite having both good and bad days, Adam broke down the swing movements in a highly understandable way.

During the winter sessions, Adam also introduced topics on mindset, course management, and expectations, which were incredibly enlightening. These lessons not only improved my golf game but also had a positive impact on other areas of my life.

This season was one of my best in the past five years. I overcame my chipping woes, regained some distance on the full swing, and, most remarkably, began hitting the driver straighter and with much more confidence. Although I didn't play as often as I had in previous seasons, my scores improved significantly, reducing my handicap to 14.5 and bringing me closer to my goal of breaking 80.

  • Fred K.

Very glad to have participated in the program this year. I easily met my goal of breaking 90 by September 1. Developed a greater appreciation for the importance of putting and chipping, and also for strategizing before each shot, which I still do. And watching Adam “the pro” play golf alongside us was a great experience. Highly recommend the program.

  • Bruce F.

“A true beginner in 2019 at age 71. Never broken 100. I Started in June 2023 with Adam, with my handicap in the low 40s. Before we began, he referred me to a Titleist Performance Institute PT trainer for flexibility training. Handicap is now plateaued at 35. Putting and chipping, bunker shots, and tee-to-green have gotten better. My stroke mechanics are getting more refined, and I'm glad to learn about face angle and club path. I learned to be more intentional in aiming for specific spots. I had a hole-in-one on 6/5/24 at the age of 75. He's patient and responsive; no yelling! A gentleman.”

Update - “Having begun my golfing life in 2020 with a handicap in the 40s and never a score under 100 at SMCC, I started with Adam in 2023. I ended 2023 with a handicap of 35.6 and still not breaking 100. Finally in 2024 I broke 100 four times at SMCC with a 95 on 6/13/2024 just before my 76th birthday, and now have a handicap of 30-31. Thank you Adam.”

“I’ve been taking golfing lessons for dozens of years and have never been able to get my handicap down.  Old habits kept creeping back.  In the spring of this year, I was ready to quit golf. I tried Adam D’Amario’s new approach to the game, which involved on-course training and practice drills. Shot strategy is a big part of the game, even for a high handicapper, and Adam gets the golfer thinking about the risks of different types of shots depending on the on-course situation. Adam has a way of observing the swing and identifying gaps.  And I’ve seen his training continually evolve with new drills and shot strategy.  Our weekly progress reports with him indicate where we can benefit the most from the in-person education.  I am thankful to have found him as an instructor, as my handicap has dropped almost 10 shots this year.”

  • Lloyd S.

“I learned several things from you when we worked together the last few summers. I now plan each shot, deciding where I want the ball to land and roll and then I have a specific type of swing to make for that shot.

I didn’t see any improvement in my handicap, but that was not my goal. What I saw as improvement was Adam’s thoughts on analyzing a shot for its risks and benefits and choosing a club for that shot, which would give me the best result for playing the rest of that hole. I also learned how to use some other clubs that previously had only one use, such as putting from off the green with an eight iron and selecting the short shot clubs for their loft and potential run on the green.  I also seem to have been able to solidify my drives to be more consistent. I also developed some more confidence in my long iron shots, and I look forward to next season when I can manage to put all this together so that it looks like the golf game that I think I can play”

  • Tom D.

My golf game over the last year is much more solid in all aspects.  I have come very close to my goal of breaking 80 (shot 80 once, 81, 82).

My successes mainly surround my better on course decision making (trying to avoid double or triple bogey) and a marked improvement in my short game.  The short game improvement came by following Adam's putting, chipping and pitching drills.  Also, I learned more thoughtful club selection from 50 yards in - thinking through what club to use, and how I was going to execute each shot situation.  This came as a result of Adam's on-course coaching.

I'm excited for next year (and some winter practice).

  • Gianfranco B.

“Having worked with Adam over a few seasons, getting the swing in order was step one. The big change to get my handicap below 20 was course management and playing smarter golf. I no longer think about my swing. I'm thinking about playing the game of golf now!”

  • Chip B.

“My goal when I started with Adam was to get below 90 on a regular basis. Over the course of a couple of months, I dropped my handicap by five strokes and was shooting in the low 90s and high 80s consistently with a couple of 9-hole rounds below 40. Working with Adam gave me a different view of approaching my game. I’m more strategic and intentional about every shot while on the course and the range. I’m confident I will continue to improve by applying what I learned while on the course with Adam.”

  • Dan R.

Where they Started: Former single-digit player, no longer able to break 90

Where they are Now: Consistently scoring in the mid-70s and playing golf with focus and intention.

Testimonial: “I wanted to share my great experience with Coach D'Amario, who is an amazing golf teacher. He is knowledgeable and is a super patient teacher of the game of golf. He listens to your needs and areas of difficulty you are experiencing and stays in touch to see how you're doing. I highly recommend Adam if you want to take your golf game to the next level!”

Frequently Asked Questions...

  • Once we have our initial planning call, and if we find we’re a good fit, we will set up a game assessment or initial coaching session (depending on your skill level). If you fit in any of our teams, we will devise an attainable and realistic goal and determine when we can achieve it. You’re guaranteed to reach that goal, or else you will receive FREE COACHING until you do. The only commitments we ask of you are:

    1. You show up and do the work.

    2. You remain coachable.

    3. You keep score.

The guarantee is null and void if you fail to keep these commitments.

  • The Academy is for anyone serious and committed to taking their game to the next level. Suppose you are now shooting a 100 and want to break 90. Great. • The 9 Hole Game Assessment is a comprehensive evaluation of your game that covers all aspects of your golf skills, including driving, approach shots, short game, and putting. It is important because it helps you and your coach identify your strengths and weaknesses, which forms the basis of your personalized improvement plan.

  • It all depends on how good you want to get. Everyone is at a different place in their golf journey and requires a personalized improvement plan to reach their goals. The best place to start is with an initial planning call so we can determine where to begin

  • It all depends on your game assessment and your goals. Every player is at a different place in their journey to shooting lower scores, and our coaches are trained to professionally assess where you’re at and what you’ll need to improve.

  • Typically, there is one coach for every three or four players in the on-course and purposeful practice sessions.

  • The length of each session may vary, but on average, on-course sessions are about 2 hours, while purposeful practice sessions are about 1 1/2 hours.

  • Yes, during the small group sessions, the coach will work with each player individually to address their specific needs and goals.

  • The on-course and practice sessions require golf clubs, balls, and appropriate attire. The coach can provide recommendations on golf equipment and attire.

  • After several years of doing just that, I found that individual private lessons were no longer the best way to help players achieve their goals. There is nothing about the driving range that simulates what players experience out on the golf course. Think about it. The lies are usually flat, you’re hitting balls into an open field, and if you hit a poor shot, you scrape in another ball and hit it again. Then when you get out on the course, what happens? There’s Out of Bounds on either side of the fairway, and you only have one golf ball. Uh oh.
